Round Hill Community Garden Plots Available

Spring of 2017, the Round Hill Community Garden is preparing to open for its 8th growing season. The Community Garden Park is a partnership effort between the Town of Round Hill and the local people and businesses of Round Hill. Community partners, including local businesses, landscape companies, farmers, civic groups, artists, and local non-profits have provided financial assistance and in-kind donations. The Town of Round Hill authorizes the use of the property annually and provides insurance coverage. The Town holds RHCG funds in their accounts and mows the area surrounding the garden. The Villages of Round Hill HOA mows the remaining perimeter and provides trash and recycling pickup.
The group’s main goals are to promote involvement in the larger community by supporting local food pantries, provide an educational experience for the next generation and maintain a space for local people to grow their own food with other local gardeners. We are in need of individuals willing to help organize and lead the garden into the future.
Onsite amenities developed over the years include, A protective 8-foot mesh fencing and reinforced small gauge fencing at ground level to keep deer, rabbits, and other pests from crops, On-site irrigation and hoses, Compost bins for in-garden recycling of organic matter, A secure storage shed to contains tools and supplies for common use and provides space for plot holders to store additional items.
The garden holds to organic methods of cultivation. Chemical pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers are forbidden. Organic soil amendments and pest remedies, such as: manure, compost, marigolds etc., may be used instead. We havte found that area farm supply and garden stores carry many suitable products. The RHCG also has ties to the Loudoun Master Gardeners.
