The Town Planner works under the direction of the Town Administrator (who also serves as Zoning Administrator) playing a leading role in planning, coordinating, and facilitating Town projects and programs. The Town Planner routinely interacts with Town leadership and attends high-level meetings to support the Town Administrator and Mayor responding to current events and community issues.

This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity to learn about every facet of a municipal operation, as you join a greater network of community leaders in Western Loudoun County. More importantly, you will be given tasks and responsibilities that allow you to make a difference to the residents and business community of Round Hill. The Town of Round Hill, Virginia has a population of 600 residents and provides water and sewer service to a population of about 3,000 residents outside of town limits. Round Hill is located in Loudoun County, VA – about 45 minutes from Frederick, MD; 30 minutes from Winchester, VA; and 30 minutes from Charles Town, WV. The Town Planner is one of 6 staff members, working in the Town Office, responsible for the administration of Town operations. The Town Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Attendance at Town Council evening meetings and Planning Commission evening meetings is required (as well as other Board and Committee meetings as needed).

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Planning, Public Administration, Political Science, Urban Affairs, Public Policy, or Community Development; and at least 2 years of related work experience. Applicants with degrees in related fields are invited to apply if their educational background and experience provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to excel at the above described functions. Applicable internships (paid or unpaid) may satisfy the experience requirement. A Master’s Degree in a related field may be considered for the experience requirement.
Salary & Benefits: Salary will be in the range of $45,000 to $55,000 depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Total compensation package includes the Virginia Retirement System participation, paid vacation and sick leave, medical and dental insurance, approved professional membership dues and approved continuing education expenses. The Town of Round Hill follows Loudoun County Government Holiday Schedule (about 12 holidays per year). Please note that the Town Administrator reserves the right to consider varied experiences and educational backgrounds, and adjust the salary offer as needed.
