Appointment Procedures

The Planning Commission is a 5-member advisory board appointed by the Town Council. State law empowers the Planning Commission to prepare and recommend a Comprehensive Plan and a zoning map for the land development in the Town. The Commission also reviews land development applications (e.g. rezonings and special exceptions) and makes recommendations to the Town Council for action.

The Planning Commission typically meets on the first Tuesday of the Month at 7 pm. Agenda packets (with important documents pertaining to the agenda) are mailed out to the members on the Friday before the meeting for the members to review and prepare for the meeting. Keep in mind – special work sessions are scheduled as needed for projects with strict deadlines. 

There is a residency requirement, so if you are interested in becoming a member of the Planning Commission, please be sure that you are a resident of the Town of Round Hill before applying. 

There is currently one open seat on the Planning Commission. Applications (with resume) are due July 13, 2018 by 4 pm. Please email application and resume to [email protected] or drop your application and resume off in the night drop box at the rear of the Town Office. 

The Mayor and Staff will review your application and resume. Finalists will be selected for interviews with the Mayor and Staff. Appointment of the new PC member will occur at the following Town Council Meeting. The first meeting for the new PC member will be in September or October.
